Meet Ed
Hi, my name is Ed.
Communication is my expertise.
Job Search and Business English are my specialties.
With over 35 years of business experience and 7 years teaching experience, I have been helping people online since 2010, offering custom lessons designed to be relevant, valuable, and fun.
Most of my time is still spent working on my business. I teach a limited number of highly motivated business professionals for a few hours a week. All my students are at an upper intermediate or advanced level.
Why do I fit teaching in my busy schedule? Because I get great satisfaction helping people advance their careers. Because I am interested in languages. (My focus is on Italian.) Because I like meeting people from other cultures and sharing experiences.
If you’d like, you can meet me via this short video.
You can read more about my professional background here on LinkedIn.
Let me give you some more details about me..
I’m from the U.S. and I live near Chicago. I’ve also lived in Missouri, Connecticut, California, North Carolina, and Colorado. (Fun fact: I’ve visited all 50 of the states in the U.S. at least once.) I’m married, with two children, aged 21 and 14, and two dogs. I spend my free time with my family, playing with iPhone app programming, and studying Italian.
Most of my career has been spent in marketing and general management, in the industries of consumer products and services and software. I’ve worked in companies and as a consultant. I’ve worked for big international companies and small local ones.
About 7 years ago, I left the business world – temporarily – to go back to school and get a master’s degree in teaching. Why? I’d been told for years by my friends and colleagues that I’d be a great teacher, and, frankly, I needed a change.
After teaching children for awhile, i decided to get back in the business world, but not to give up teaching. So I restarted my consulting business and started working with English learners online. This let me spend time on both my interests: business and helping people through teaching.
If you think I might be the teacher for you, schedule an exploratory session and we can discuss your goals and how to achieve them.
